Protect Your Momentos:
once
you have gathered the keepsakes you wish to add to your scrapbook, you should
safeguard them by placing them into archive safe boxes and files.
Old
photographs in particular are fragile and can be easily ruined. Create name
labels for each file/box and separate them into categories i.e. Names, Places,
Time Periods, Major Life events and so forth.
By keeping your items organized
you will be able to find them at the snap of a finger. Also, any items that you
decide not to use or that won’t fit into your scrapbook will still be
protected. Photo safe pens/pencils can be used to add information to the backs
of photographs. Wherever you keep your photos make sure the area is free of
moisture, light and heat.

By creating a scrapbook you are
protecting the many fond and timeless reminders of your family and using the
right supplies is vital. The four main elements of any scrapbook are the
scrapbook itself, glue, shears, and a journaling pen (permanent, fade and water
proof only, please). You will need a scrapbook that contains acid-free paper or
you can buy some and replace the paper if necessary. Use only polyvinyl
chloride free protective sleeves/pockets since ‘PVC’ release gases that cause
photographs and other paper artifacts to deteriorate fairly quickly. Your
scrapbook can be any size and style that you choose.
Adhesive -- will be used
to attach the items to the pages of the scrapbook. You have the option of
choosing various types of adhesive (glue stick/gun, tapes, photo tape etc.)
